Electricity Prices

An average energy bill consists of different costs for gas and/or electricity. Some of these costs are fixed, others are variable. Usually the costs for network and supply are listed separately or you receive a separate invoice. If your meter has a dual supply tariff it is usually split into a standard rate that applies during the day (peak rate) and a lower rate at night and in the weekend (off-peak rate). You can also have a single meter where you always pay the same rate. Pay attention as you compare electricity prices for the so-called ‘bare” delivery charge per kilowatt hour (kWh). This excludes energy, network costs, fixed charges and taxes.

Transferring to another energy supplier

If you are considering switching electricity suppliers, whether or not you have switched before, note that this is only for the delivery of the electricity. The network and transport costs remain with your existing supplier.

Every energy company is required to charge the energy tax to the purchaser and then pay the tax to the government.  It does not matter if you are a personal or commercial customer. The standing charge also varies little between suppliers. The standing charge is a fixed amount that is comparable to administrative charges and varies between € 0 and € 225 per year.

How is the delivery price determined?
